after a google search of the number in question, it became clear that this is a fraud attempt. this number, and others close to it (such as 845-875-5214) have called asking for someone who does not live here in regards to a "pending legal matter". after some investigation, it was revealed that the "pending legal matter" was a fraudulent claim of an unpaid debt of some kind (like a bounced check). i suspect an auto-dialing device is involved.
